Pain Relief and Peace of Mind
“I have been going to for over seven years and I am very happy with the treatment I have received. I remember one day I had swelling in my gums and had some nerve pain. The next day that tooth cracked and I was very nervous because I thought I may have to have an extraction. I went in to see Dr. and after my examination, he gave me my options. Boy was I relieved, he saved the tooth and to this day I have no problems with it.”

Extraction Procedure
At , a tooth extraction procedure involves anesthetic that numbs the area to help you relax, feel comfortable and decrease any discomfort. After the extraction, you will be given suggestions and a regimen to follow for the best care after the extraction. A small amount of bleeding is normal after the procedure and a blood clot will form. To help the healing process and not dislodge the blood clot we recommend avoiding smoking, vigorous rinsing of the mouth, or drinking through a straw following a tooth extraction. Post Tooth Extraction or Removal
Problems that can arise after the removal of teeth include bone loss, biting irregularities, and changes in your smile. Biting irregularities due to the loss of a tooth can cause problems in chewing and could lead to a change in eating habits, which may also affect your nutritional balance. The tooth opposite the extraction no longer has another tooth to contact, which compromises functionality. Bone loss causes the gum line to collapse and changes your smile, and lips and cheek lose their support. Dr. and Dr. have cosmetic options to remedy these situations including a dental bridge or dental implant to replace the extracted tooth. Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Third molars are more commonly called “wisdom teeth.” They usually appear somewhere in the late teens or early twenties. These molars often lack the space they need to erupt fully or even at all. When they fail to erupt, it is called impaction and they will require extraction. When you do not have the space for the wisdom teeth to come in normally or if they simply develop in the wrong place, problems may arise such as crowding or damage to the adjacent teeth. Dr. and Dr. can x-ray your wisdom teeth and consult with you about the many options you have to correct the problem. Call today for your free consultation about extractions in .
Tooth Extraction Risks
Dry socket develops in about 3% to 4% of all extractions. It occurs when the blood clot breaks off too early or fails to form completely over the hole. They underlying bone is then exposed to air and food, causing pain and a bad odor or taste. Dry socket typically occurs on or after the third day of surgery. If the removed tooth was impacted, a dry socket can occur up to 30% of the time. Women who take birth control pills or smoke are more likely to have dry socket. However, if you follow our doctors’ aftercare instructions, your healing will be great. If you any questions concerning extractions and live in call now!
